BYU Dominates Colorado in the Alamo Bowl

SAN ANTONIO, TX — The 2025 Alamo Bowl turned into a statement game for BYU, as the 17th-ranked Cougars powered past No. 20 Colorado with a decisive 36-14 victory on Saturday night at the Alamodome.

Running back L.J. Martin led the charge with 93 rushing yards and two touchdowns, earning Offensive MVP honors, while the Cougars’ defense stifled Colorado’s high-powered attack all night.

“No one expected us to win or dominate like we did,” Martin said after the game.

A Complete BYU Performance

BYU (11-2) scored in every quarter, controlling the game from start to finish. Sophomore Parker Kingston provided one of the highlights of the night with a 64-yard punt return touchdown that put BYU up 17-0 in the first half. Kicker Will Ferrin added long-range strikes with field goals of 51 and 54 yards.

Quarterback Jake Retzlaff kept the offense moving with 151 passing yards, while Sione I. Moa added a rushing score in the third quarter.

On the defensive side, the Cougars smothered Colorado, holding them to just 210 total yards and an astonishing 2 net rushing yards. Isaiah Glasker, named Defensive MVP, recorded eight tackles and sealed the win with a fourth-quarter interception.

Defensive end Tyler Batty credited BYU’s aggressive scheme:

“We had guys flying in from every angle putting pressure on the quarterback. I don’t necessarily envy Shedeur in that situation.”

Colorado Struggles to Find Rhythm

The Buffaloes (9-4) entered the game averaging over 34 points per contest but never found their footing. Shedeur Sanders threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns, including a 43-yard strike to Heisman winner Travis Hunter, but was also sacked three times and intercepted twice.

Head coach Deion Sanders summed it up bluntly:

“Special teams kicked our butts and we couldn’t do nothing offensively much at all.”

Looking Ahead

The win gave BYU its second straight bowl victory and further momentum heading into next season. For Colorado, the Alamo Bowl exposed areas that will need fixing if the program hopes to continue its rise.

2024 First Rodeo

Photographing a rodeo for the first time is an exhilarating experience for any photographer. Rodeos are packed with fast-paced action, from bull riding to barrel racing, roping, and bronc busting. Each event offers unique moments that demand quick reflexes and a keen eye for timing. However, one of the biggest challenges is the lighting—often harsh and unpredictable due to outdoor arenas and stadium lights, requiring careful adjustments to exposure and settings.

Despite the challenges, the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming. The cowboys and cowgirls are not only skilled athletes but also deeply professional and friendly. They make you feel part of the rodeo family, which helps create a more authentic and relaxed environment for capturing those raw, powerful moments.
